Comunications for "Wounded Warriors Project" bike ride.
On Saturday, July 25th Turner/Gilbane at the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Project sponsored a bicycle ride along the Mount Vernon Trail and up to and around The National Mall area in Washington D.C all in a fundraising effort to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. This effort is appropriate because the Hospital that the Turner/Gilbane Joint Venture is currently constructing will be for Active and Retired Military personnel and their families, many of whom are Wounded Warriors.
There were 42 riders and volunteers riding and assisting with making the trek up the Mount Vernon trail, including Chris Jahrling – Project Executive and Principal in Charge of Turner’s Mid-Atlantic Office, George Cavallo – Executive Vice President of Gilbane, a representative of the US Army Corps of Engineers, Team members from the T/G JV at Fort Belvoir, Gilbane and Turner employees, families and friends.
In the true sense of Gilbane Cares and Turner LIFE (Living Injury Free Everyday) a safety brief coupled with a review of bicycle etiquette was held at the outset of the ride.
At the time of the ride the team members and volunteers raised in excess of $10,000 with funds still flowing in after the event.
